As we welcome the first day of Spring this week (hoping Spring weather arrives soon here in Boston), we also bring in a new energy and fresh vibes. Flowers blossom, we have more hours of daylight, and people spend more time outside. We shed our winter layers and switch up our wardrobe to match what we're feeling inside.

When we change our wardrobe for Spring, our beauty routines tend to change as well. Hair and makeup trends tend to mimic the same vibe as this season's mix of the 90s and 70s-inspired fashion. Here's what we're seeing this Spring:

  • Makeup is effortless. Say goodbye to the matte look. Dewy, fresh skin is in! Pair the dewy look with metallic pops for an easy and beautiful look. Spring makeup should be effortless, so I’m a huge fan of a tinted moisturizer with SPF paired with a creamy highlighter, brow pomade and a little mascara. Skin should look like skin!
  • Hair is all about texture. When it comes to hair, natural, effortless texture is in. Shaggy cuts and fringe are coming back in a big way - from soft, subtle curtain fringe to fuller shaggy cuts. I love to use a razor to cut this kind of texture because, when cut the correct way, it emphasizes the texture and creates a softer line. A little air drying with some hair balm and 'Undressed' by Hair Story creates soft movement with a very soft hold. To create a little more definition after the hair is dry, try wrapping pieces around an inch or an inch and a quarter iron.
  • Brights are back. I also love how color is moving in a brighter, warmer direction. Copper and golden tones are very big right now and I can’t wait to play with more of those tones on my clients. The ‘rose gold’ trend is moving to a full on ginger, which is absolutely stunning on the right complexion.
